This is more of a "think about this for the future development of the board" sort of idea. @Owl i think we all can agree that for as much as you love this place, you can't possibly do everything by yourself (don't know if there is someone else doing code related tasks, but even so, i suspect is not lots of people) and many of us are more than happy to help in making this place the best it can possibly be as we spend quite a lot of time on the forum. I also understand that it takes time to find someone you can trust to make code changes to the site and not ruin it/hack it or whatever possible disaster can happen. What about creating a dev team that can simply deploy code to an online repository (e.g. github/bitbucket, a normal version control system really) and that can then be reviewed by you on a local environment and if it works fine can be finally pushed to live? I'd be more than happy to set everything up for you if you don't have time yourself (not that i have that much time on me either, but between a project and another i can take a look at this). Is frustrating seeing how many time you are forced on say no because of lack of time or lack of help developing stuff. Could work like this for instance: Master branch - only @Owl and other admin have access to it. Dev branch - only head of dev team and other admin have access to it. Other branches - users of the dev team are able to create new branches off master and push in these. Once the work is finished the dev head or admins can merge into dev/master and admin can push to live. Is simple really, doesn't require much trust and you'd get lots of stuff done with help of the community. Let me know what you think and i'm more than happy to have the opinion of any other member/staff member who has interest in joining such a team. tl;dr: Creating a dev team that can push code to online repository without affecting the forum until an admin pushes all the changes live.
