    Video essay on the subversive history of manga and how One Piece inherited this legacy from the fringe art of ukiyo-e. Japan's creativity is one part of a complex society, I argue representing elements of resistance against repression.     I'm really not a fan of video essays, so a text version is something I'd prefer.
