I was sitting in a very crowded park and decided to see how many strangers I could meet and talk to. I removed my shoes. Everytime someone walked by I smiled and told them I was wearing new socks......this led to a variety of reactions, and those looks people give when they think you belong in an institution.........

So I was wondering, in what silly, weird, unusual way do you meet complete strangers.......

I usually don't talk to strangers. Not that I think it's weird or anything, but I'm not very talkative. Letting the other person come up with topics, since I suck at it, and all. But it's fun meeting new people who share similar interests.

Even though it doesn't happen too often, except the drunkies that I ignore.

I've never actually walked up to a stranger and said hi, but I wouldn't mind doing it either! xD

Your idea Law is so interesting! :D What did people say when they saw you? xD

Nah, I think that I suffer from social anxiety or something. But that's really cool, Law.

I believe I'm quite similar, even though I believe that the idea of meeting someone similar to you seems nice.

I only hang out with 3-4 people regularly and avoid anyone else.

I used to be slightly socially awkward, but when I started gigging it forced me to chat to everyone who came up to me after my set. I got over it and love meeting new people now.

Haha. You got a point there.
I don't mind talking to strangers if it's a game and there's a prize. *Beli eyes like Nami*
Seriously, I'm not really a talkative type. I let the other person talk first. If not, then we don't talk at all. I'm super shy when it comes to meeting/talking to other people. That's why I admire people who can talk confidently to strangers.

It's not like I take much attention to it. I won't go meet a person on purpose, it happens if happens, no forced meetings. If a strange people talk to me I will answer normally and depending on the conversation maybe I will make a "bond" with that person, or not.

Sometimes I talk with homeless people, there are very interesting ones, like any other kind, there is still some prejudice on them, but sometimes they just want a cigar or to talk, and you can make them have a different moment for five minutes, it's not pity is just something that happens because it happens.

great thinking law thats one way to get their attention, well meeting a stranger maybe good and bad, good coz you will have more friends, bad because you dont know him, might be a serial killer or a sex offender.. well i dont mind talking to them but it depends on the place.

Well, interesting for sure. I just didn't think anyone would go and tell strangers they are wearing new socks.

Yeah... that’s definitely a new one on me. I used to do some interesting improv stuff when I was younger. Like wear fangs for no reason (far from Halloween and very natural looking ones). Then when someone said something, I’d pretend they were my normal teeth and get all flustered/confused/embarrassed about my teeth being messed up and ask my BF about it. He played along and would whisper-talk over my head to them about how sensitive I was about my teeth. Their reactions as they stumbled over themselves to try and figure out how to get out of the situation as I’m still asking what’s wrong with my teeth and getting more hysterical would be funny. I dunno why I did that. Twisted teenager I was. ^_^

But when I saw the thread title, it’s not what I expected.

OT: I tend to either give random compliments if I see an article of clothing I like, etc, or on Thursday, I was talking to Karl and saying he should go get us food while we waited for the nerdlesque show to start but I was looking at a woman walk over to the bar as I said it. So when she walked up she says, what am I going to go do? I was like no not you. She’s like you were looking at me as you said it. So I said my bad, I was distracted by your loveliness; I was gonna tell you that you were adorable when you got here, especially because I was staring but you called me out first. She was laughing at? with? me and said she’d do whatever I wanted. Strangers are fun! Anyways, we met on stage later for birthday burlesque. But talking to strangers in bars/grocery stores/wherever tends to come more naturally than taking the OP thing though I like the strangeness of it! ^_^
