Hey you lovely folks who enjoy a little coding, yesterday chatting with a good friend of mine regarding a recent github competition we came across this little game:

    http://alexnisnevich.github.io/untrusted/

I'd highly suggest it to people who are learning/want to learn/like/love/are interested in coding, not only is an incredible cool game, it also teaches you a lot!
Hope you like the share, let me know where you get at, and what solutions you applied (most levels can be done in many ways actually, i've re-played it today and i found it so much easier than yesterday, some of the solutions i've used today made me feel so good with myself ahahah).
    Enjoy!

Uhm.. good question, I've always studied by myself, but nowdays there are many ways you could learn online..
One that comes to my mind (which i've used and abused) is: https://mva.microsoft.com/

Is a great initiative from microsoft, is a free virtual academy, the teachers are fun to watch and very knowledgeable, and there is so much to choose from!

Also that game is a good kickstart for javascript based webgames, tho is quite difficult if you have never approached any coding..

Just basic, how to call a function and basic statemants (if, for, while...). It's good for learning though.

If you want to start coding, it's better to start with C, after that you can easily switch to any other language more or less, couse most of them are C-syntax based. I started with Pascal, but wouldn't recommend you.

I personally would recommend C only those who are really dedicated to this. I mean just think .... C = pointers + data types + memory management + data structures + algorithms + ..... + (many) headaches. Where the algorithms are (until some point) the easiest thing to do. And when you finally got this .... let's do somethig for real => OOP so again from 0 foward new things. When all he wants maybe is some scripting to do his life easier :D. Of course ... if he ever wanna hire as a programmer C is the way but otherwise ... Python, Ruby should do the trick. Maybe some VBA if he's on Windows.
