Eiichiro Oda and Kohei Horikoshi ( My Hero Academia's creator ) made an interview. Here is the summary of it : ( doing my best to translate this from Arabic, if i see anything new i'll add it to this thread ) - Horikoshi says that Oda was always his top inspiration since he was 16 years old. ( he's 31 years old now ) - In Volume 23 of ONE PIECE ( during Alabasta arc ), Horikoshi, who was a highschool student at that time, participated in the making of that volume by sending a drawing. Oda liked the drawing and accepted it to be published in the volume. Horikoshi couldn't believe it and he told his mom about it. - Horikoshi says he loves Arlong Park and especially the dialog between Luffy and Nami. - Oda says that Horikoshi is the future of Shonen Jump and will be the leader of the next generation of manga artists. - Oda says that his daughter sings My Hero Academia's songs in the bus. At home, his daughter often asks him " Dad is One Piece gonna be alright ? ", because she's too worried about One Piece. - Horikoshi says that at first he tried to draw a protagonist like Luffy but he couldn't. - Oda watched My Hero Academia's movie that just came out. - Oda : How many volumes will My Hero Academia feature ? Horikoshi: I think 30. Oda: then make it 50. Horikoshi: I don't think i can go that far ... Oda: regardless of whether you can do it or not, that's the only way you can reach that number. ( 50 volumes ) Horikoshi: What about you Oda-san ? Have you already decided on how many volumes will ONE PIECE feature ? Oda: I did, but i'm sure the number will end up being more than i planned. - At the end of the interview: Horikoshi: I'm gonna do my best to surpass ONE PIECE ! Oda: I'm not gonna lose !
