As many of you already know, the whole Dressrosa arc is based or inspired on many places from Spain and its culture in general. Here is a nice comparison between a part of Dressrosa and the Park Güell in Barcelona, Spain.

RE: Part of Dressrosa in Real Life (Park Güell in Barcelona, Spain)

this is the reason why one piece is always in a break, Oda is adicted in research, history etc. no need to do that anyway

that's not the reason we get breaks but w/e that's a different topic for a different thread

Owl... Erm I was thinking...how about instead of just Dressrosa... thread would consist of OP world to our world comparison. there are few minor threads with char - person but nothing on larger scale with images, just a thought.

Hum, maybe. :P I just wanted to show this little curiosity about the current arc, though.

Of course, all writers/designers need inspiration from somewhere and Oda is no different :D.

I wonder where Kubo(bleach) get his ideas from( he is so strange).

RE: One Piece and Real Life Inspirations

Just to revive this thread (I've changed the title) by posting other real life landscapes. There're a lot more for you to find out.
(BTW, not sure any of you know this that Oda's major before mangaka was architecture at the University of Kumamoto.)

    Yes this very true.

    - Dressrosa is modeled after Spain in many ways.
    - Culture, including the corruption.
    - The gladiators fights, existed for long time while Spain was part of the Roman Empire.
    - Violet's outfit and first appearance are reference to "flamenco" music and dancing genre.
    - Many buildings at the streets exist in Barcelona (designed by Antoni Gaudí).
    - The most famous park "Parc Güell", which is actually the giant plateau where the royal
    palace is.

@"Rio.D.Kaneki", you should add that to the main post. Put something like "additional info/edited by @"Rio.D.Kaneki": [text]"

EDIT: I've just added it. I'll edit the description of the thread asap.

Being a manga author is a really hard job
I mean like Oda-sensei; he has to do a lot of researcher and explore many landscapes around the world so he could draw them in his work later
I believe all mangaka go through the same, they are really hard workers...respect to them all

what seemed strange is that in a single island in OP you could find two or more resembles of landscapes from two or more different countries (in case you didn't understand what I mean, consider Dressrossa; it's really close to Spain but Corrida Colosseum which resembles the Colosseum in Roma-Italy)
