I think that no actor will fit for their appearence...
Maby theyll get a fake long nose. :-D
One Piece + Hollywood? Doesn't sound very promising in the least, to be honest. I thought they should make a movie first instead of a tv series. Anyway, I'll make sure to give this a go.
For the people wondering about Usopp, this is perfect!
Oh god no, the lips
I expect nothing less.
Lol, poor Usopp. xD
I can't believe this
I'm gonna wait on judging this until it comes out. I do hope it's alright though.
I know Oda said to them not to disappoint his fans but when it comes to Hollywood... that's their trade mark. In the end i'll feel bad for Oda.
So...first time in the forum and first post....sorry if I ignore a rule by unknowing it
Well Dearies, I understand the worries and rejections about this project. If it's coming up to an real life action movie for an anime/manga, it could be real crap: e.g. Dragonball, The last Airbender etc. Furthermore the problems that, although it's not set in the real world, the japan influence on the lifestlye from the caracters is recognizable. It's often hard to deal with that and then the whole expectations, not only from the fans and the creator but also from the producers, director and actors who will be linked to this projects: they want to make it as good as they could I guess. I would give it a try for some episodes and here are some reasons for it, in my oppinion (they are not written in stone so don't nail me to that if it comes to a bunch of nonsense): I like the producer. They movies I'seen so far from him got a special style and the things he already committed for this projects sounds like he is also some kind of "fan" to OP. To the thing with the adaption...I have to say: sure if you adapt a novel or something else and you are a fan of it, you want it close to the original, but for me, I have to say, I would be happy if he adapt the manga and connects it with his own ideas and styles and looks: it's another medium so he as some right to transport, delete, create and change things (for those who are feared of that: well...keep in my mind, NONE director, producer and actor knows what is the mind of a fan and, everyone got his own feelings and connections to the story and world of OP, and it shouldn't be the main task to transfer every wish into this NEW prouct). And Oda gave his blessings, I think he has the knowledge, understanding and "wisdom" to work with those people and doesn't let us alone. I am very interested in the look, actors, effects and atmosphere
I don't mind hollywood making this but with all the other movies hollywood have done on anime has not gone well.like The new death note movie and dragon ball evolution.hope it will goes well
Stop trying to turn anime into live action, there is a reason why it came out in animation, also, how many series are you trying to fit into a 2 hour live action film? I personally dont see it working out very well....
I'm just waiting to see how they'll do Usopp's nose
It will be beautiful.
You know what else will be beautiful?
Realizing how horrifying some of these powers are after seeing live action screenshots float around (Robin's power is just absolutely horrifying if you think about it).
I have an idea on how they'll do Luffy's stretching stuff:
Expensive custom made sticky hands
CGI. A lot of expensive CGI. At least I hope so. Would be really nice to see some kind of new cinema techniques in use for this series since it has such a range of original powers.
Those CGI guys will be having loads of fun if Hollywood puts effort into this (I really hope they use the real-world ethnicities that were confirmed as a reference for casting). However this turns out, it should either be good ironically like the 4kids dub or actually done well. At the very least the CGI will be a source of memes.
I don't know abt the current progress but it would be great if the production team takes actors from different part of the world to play the character...only then it makes sense.
I don't necessarily completely agree with you both on that, but I think that in the end it will come down to execution, whether or not the ethnicities match.
