Post your favourite dishes from the Shokugeki no Soma series!

Keep it anime-only for now, don't want to spoil (also the food looks even better in the anime)

I guess I'll start with a couple of my favourites.

    The Mapo Tofu Ramen:

And the "Gotcha!" Pork Roast from the very first episode:

"The Seductive Karaage" from season 1, episode 17. Japan is actually slowly dying (literally) because they younger generations are moving out of the small towns. Many towns are literally ghost towns with empty town squares. There is usually a central area where the main small businesses are all in the same area for convenience's sake. Not only are people not getting married/having kids, very few want to inherit a small business (which is the most depressing thing since the skill/craftsmanship is what build Japan as an economic powerhouse). This episode is literally wishful thinking of all of Japan to get back to the "good ol' days". Definitely not impactful from creativity, gourmet, taste, etc. but definitely meaningful for me as a Japanese (even if I'm third generation removed from Japan).

    Is that the karaage wrap?

It's interesting to hear that perspective on the dish actually. Thinking about it deeper, I guess Soma's character goals (to surpass his dad and inherit Yukihira) fit with the hopeful message of this episode

Yup and it definitely ties directly to Souma's long term goals.
